The narrower range of concrete and steel material strengths permitted in Eurocode 4, alongside the;enhanced ductility and buckling resistance of SRC columns, creates a need for an analysis that goes beyond the guidelines. This is addressed here through examining the design of SRC columns using high strength concrete, high strength structural steel and high strength reinforcing steel materials. Special consideration is given to resistance calculations which maximise the full strength of the materials. Easy-to-follow worked examples demonstrate each procedure, and equations for design resistance are presented clearly for easy programming into design spreadsheets. It is written primarily for structural engineers and designers familiar with basic EC4 design, whilst also being;useful for;civil engineering students.
